Quiet Quest Day 25 – Morning Pages


I’m am loving The Artists Way by Julia Cameron and have been telling everyone that I speak to that they MUST read it.

In true dramatic fashion, I’ve already self-diagnosed myself as a blocked artist based on statements such as the following from the book:

“Most blocked creatives have an active addiction to anxiety. We prefer the low-grade pain and occasional heart-stopping panic attack to the drudgery of small and simple daily steps in the right direction”.

Yup – can completely relate.

One of the most important tools that Julia Cameron suggests is writing what she calls Morning Pages. This is not dissimilar to journaling however it is only 3 pages (no more, no less) of longhand writing, strictly stream of consciousness. And it must be done daily.

So today’s Quiet Quest is morning pages with a twist. I say twist because I needed to write closer to six pages to fill the 30 minutes.

There are a heap of blogs out there that claim doing these morning pages has changed their life.
