My washing basket is like Mary Poppin’s handbag – the contents within it are never ending.
Once a load is washed it often sits in a heap along with previous loads for an extended period of time (if I’m honest it can be weeks) until it finally makes it way back to a wardrobe or drawer – folded if it’s lucky.
If and when washing is folded – it is only ever done while watching T.V or a movie. I don’t actually even consider doing it unless I have something to distract me at the same time.
Enter Quiet Quest.
Yup, tonight I will be spending my quiet 30 minutes folding the 4 loads of washing on my bed. Silently and mindfully.
Similar to my previous posts on walking, eating and tea drinking, mindfulness is the practice of purposefully focusing your attention on the present moment. Regular practice of mindfulness can relieve stress, lower blood pressure and improve sleep.
Another person who will be benefit from tonight’s practice will be my mum – she is under the impression that I save my washing for her to do on her weekly visit – which is absolutely not true although very much appreciated!
Time to unplug and get folding.
