Quiet Quest – Day 1. Journaling


5:15am: Wake up to the sound of the alarm.

I use my iPhone as an alarm clock so was immediately tempted to start my usual morning ritual of checking my emails, Facebook and the news.  As most of my Quiet Quest will need to be done in the early hours of the morning before Jackson and Isla wake up, I’m thinking I may need to invest in an alarm clock that doesn’t have all the trappings and distractions of today’s smart phone.

So this morning’s 30 minutes was spent journaling.

Journaling is said to promote self-awareness, encourage you to think about what you do and why you do it. It is also an opportunity to have a one on one conversation with yourself and to start living with more intention.

The idea is to just to write freely and release all your thoughts.

Initially my hand couldn’t keep up with my head but eventually the writing was a bit more smooth and I actually felt quite calm and focussed at the end of it.

Definitely a daily practice that I would love to incorporate beyond the Quiet Quest
